Adopted By Teacher For the Most Sadistic Reasons – The Story of Preston Davey

Jamie Vley is an evil and monstrous individual. Struggle to imagine the horror that Preston endured in his short life. While no sentence will ever be enough what these truly wicked men did to an innocent child, I welcome those handed down to them today by the judge.        Welcome or welcome back and thanks for being here.

I’m Cassie and this is a Wicked World. The story I have for you today is about a little boy who was adopted by two men, one of which was a teacher. And just four months later, he was found dead from multiple horrifying attacks. This is the story of Preston Davyy. Preston Elijah Davyy was born on June 16th, 2022 in Manchester, England to his mother, Sarah Davyy, and his father Gary Nolan.

He was said to be a happy, sweet, and bubbly baby boy. When Preston’s mother, Sarah, was 14 years old back in 1998, she and her 15-year-old friend, Lisa Healey, brutally tortured their elderly neighbor named Lily Lily. The pair of teens squirted shampoo in her eyes, cut her with a knife, and put a gag around her mouth so tight that her dentures were forced down her throat.

After they killed her, they crammed Lily’s lifeless body into a trash bin and walked it through the streets before throwing it in the Roachedale Canal. They also used her phone to make hundreds of calls and took her pension money and bought chocolate and chips. Sarah was convicted of murder and handed a life sentence, but she was eligible for parole after 8 years.

She was released for the first time in 2013, but would be sent back to prison after breaching the terms of her parole. This happened a few more times, and during one release in 2019, Sarah became pregnant with a daughter. She was released again in August of 2021, and that’s when she became pregnant with Preston.

She was arrested again shortly after, and Preston was born while she was behind bars in June of 2022. He then remained with his mother in the hospital for 5 days before he was sent to live with his new foster parents. Preston’s father, Gary, wasn’t an option for custody either since he was also currently in prison. He was serving a 12-month sentence for headbutting a tram driver in a racist attack.

Additionally, Gary suffered from borderline personality disorder, brain damage from a hammer attack back in 2002, and drug and alcohol addictions. Now, Sarah really wanted to keep Preston. So, her mother, Deborah Davyy, who had custody of her other children, was going to help raise the little boy until she was released from jail and could care for him herself.

However, when the grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer the day after Preston’s birth, child services told her that she could not care for him and he was sent to live with his foster parents instead. From that point forward, Sarah got to see her son approximately every two weeks.

Preston’s new foster parents, Sandra and Paul Cooper, had tons of experience as they had raised over 42 foster children in the past 25 years. So, while the little boy was with them, he was happy and well cared for. Sandra said about Preston, “He was beautiful. He was happy. He laughed. He smiled really early. Just a really lovable baby. He loved cuddles.

He was just having a really nice life.  Again, we laughing. [laughter] Are we laughing? [laughter] Okay. Sarah loved Preston’s new foster family and she wanted them to keep him until her own mother, Deborah, was able to care for him. But social services wouldn’t allow this to happen. Because in January of 2023, they paired Preston up with two men who were looking to adopt a child.

So after living with the Coopers for the first nine months of his life on April 1st, 2023, Preston went to live with his new adoptive parents, John McGawan Fazakurley and Jamie Vley. When Preston’s grandmother found out that two men were going to be adopting him, she said she felt uncomfortable. She believed a child should be brought up by a mom and a dad.

So the idea of Preston being with two men just gave her a bad feeling. Preston’s former foster mother, Sandra, said she felt uncomfortable with the situation, too, but for a different reason. When she handed little Preston over to the couple, she said that there was a feeling that was gnawing at her, but she wasn’t quite sure what it was.

When Sandra originally met 37-year-old Jaime and his 32-year-old partner John back in January, she felt that they were committed, stable, and genuinely eager to build a family. But once they had Preston in their care, she soon got a bad feeling. Sandra would request visits with Preston to check in on how he was doing once the adoption process started.

But Jon and Jaime would constantly cancel these meetings or fail to show up altogether. Sandra began to feel like the men were hiding something from her. When she finally did see Preston again after making a complaint to a social worker, she felt like something was off. Sandra said that Preston looked a bit stiff and a bit blank and Jon and Jaime appeared rather evasive.

Both Sandra and Preston’s grandmother Deborah voiced their concerns to social workers on several occasions, but the adoption process moved forward anyways. Just four months later, the 13-month-old little boy would be dead. Now, Jaime Varley and his partner John McGawan had met back in 2018 at a bar in downtown Manchester. Jaime was described as being a sassy drama queen, while Jon was a little bit more laid-back.

From the night they met, the pair had been inseparable. Jon never left Jaime’s place after that first night. According to Jaime’s family, he was a very doineering character, and he cut Jon off from his old life once they bought a three-bedroom house together in Blackpool. Shortly into their relationship, the couple got a dog and named him Maximus.

From there, adopting a baby was the next logical step in completing their family. And in late 2021, they began the adoption process with an agency called Adoption Now. Then on January 6th, 2023, after attending training sessions, having their finances, family backgrounds, and criminal records checked, both men were approved to adopt Preston.

They had their first visit with him on February 13th, and Preston was placed in the couple’s care officially on April 1st. John worked as a financial sales manager and Jaime worked as a design and technology teacher at a nearby high school, Southshore Academy. They made the same salary, but John also received bonuses.

So, the decision was made that Jaime would take a year off from his job to stay home with Preston. The couple also made this decision because Jon had no experience with babies, whereas Jaime had babysat for nieces, nephews, and children of friends on numerous occasions. In the beginning, Jaime thought that caring for little Preston was going to be easy, but quickly found out that it was not.

Jon worked long hours and was often away on business trips. That meant that Jaime was left alone with Preston for much of the time. On top of that, the infant had an allergy to cow’s milk and reflux, which caused him to vomit. He also woke frequently during the night, which meant that Jaime would have to get up with him many times.

And soon, the new father began to struggle. Preston’s former foster mother, Sandra, would confirm that the little boy was not a good sleeper at all. actually the worst she’d ever seen. She said that sometimes he woke up as much as 10 times a night. But she also said that it was easy to put Preston back to sleep by stroking his head to soothe him.

Just days after Preston began living with the couple, Jaime and John started sending text messages back and forth to one another about how exhausting it was being a new parent. They talked about not getting a good night’s sleep and about how they were constantly cleaning up projectile vomit. Other more concerning text messages that Jaime sent to his family said things like, “We are struggling.

We are questioning every choice. He’s just annoying and he’s very needy. Screams all the time like he’s being killed.” Following Preston’s first overnight in his new home on April 2nd, Jaime sent his friend a text that read, “After an hour of refusing his milk and dummy, I wanted to put him in the field with the cows, but he’s woken up a ray of sunshine and as beautiful as ever.

” The next day, the father complained to his colleague that he and John couldn’t get Preston into a sleep routine. According to him, this was because he had been spoiled by Mrs. Cooper, who smothered him and picked him up at every cry. Then just 5 days after Preston was placed in their care, Jaime texted his sister, who is a baby sleep trainer, and he said, “He’s dead meat today.

Didn’t sleep last night until after 11:30, up every 1 and a half hours.” Jaime described Preston, whom he and John started calling by his middle name, Elijah, as annoying, whiny, and crying all day and night. It seems that the stress of a new baby quickly took a toll on the couple’s relationship, too. In a text message that John sent Jaime just a few days after Preston began living with them, he said, “I can’t keep trying anymore.

I am not going to be physical with you anymore. You’re breaking my heart. Jaime replied saying, “You will end up going elsewhere, so we might as well split up.” A few months later, on the evening of July 27th, 2023, Jaime and John rushed 13-month-old Preston to the emergency room at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

He was unconscious and in a state of cardiac arrest. Medics tried for over 50 minutes to revive the infant, but unfortunately, they were unable to. and little Preston Davyy was pronounced dead at 7:18 p.m. When Jaime was informed of the news, he began putting on quite the performance of a grieving parent, which was caught on police body camera footage.

I CAN’T I CAN’T I no please no  John. Mom. I can’t. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. Mom. Mom. No.  No. Don’t give up on that. Sounds like you’re giving up on him. Do not give up on him. No. No. Please. No.  I do. Oh my god. I CAN’T. I SHOULD NOT HAVE LEFT HIM. IT WAS MINUTES. [laughter] It’s minutes. I can’t.

I can’t. No. No. No. This is not happening. THIS IS THE LORD. THIS IS NOT HAPPENING. LORD, I can’t. I can’t. No. No. Please.  I know. No. No. No. No.  Jamie, come on.  No. No. I can’t. I can’t. Please kill me. Please.  Jamie. Jamie.  Please.  Jamie. I can’t. I can’t. No. No. No. No. No. This is not me.

[applause]  No. No.  Look at me.  No. No. Look at no, John.  Your son needs you.  He doesn’t need me. He doesn’t need me. This is my fault. I left him literally 2 minutes when they got changed.  He was in his chair. [laughter]  Your son needs you.  Mom. Jamie, come on.  Jamie, listen to me.  MOM, MY MOM,  YOUR SON needs you.

I want you to come with me. And  please get my mom.  She’s coming.  She is.  But I want you to come with me cuz he needs you. Okay. Come with me.  Take a deep breath.  Just listen to these two ladies. They’re going to try and help.  My name is This is  All right.  I want you to come with us cuz he needs you.  This is why you become a dad.

Come on.  Come on. This moment.  He needs you. Okay.  Ready.  I can’t be with you.  You need to be with you.  Jamie, come on.  Mom, she’s coming. She’s coming with  someone to say, baby.  I want it.  I tried to go in the room, but mom won’t let me hold it. Yes.  Did you go in?  No. Let me hold it.

How come?  This is my fault cuz I left him alone.  No, no, no.  Jamie told authorities the same story we’ve heard over and over again. That he had left Preston alone in the bathtub for just a few minutes and when he came back he was underwater. the typical  story and one he would surprisingly stick with throughout the entirety of the case.

This was also despite the fact that hospital staff noticed that Preston’s hair was dry and there was no fluid in his lungs. When an autopsy was performed on the little boy’s body just 3 days after his death, numerous horrifying injuries were discovered, ones that certainly could not be accounted for just by drowning. The medical examiner recorded that Preston had 40 separate non-acal external and internal injuries to his tiny body.

This included multiple clusters of fingertip bruises on his head, face, and limbs. slap marks on his leg and a human bite mark on his right buttock. He had bleeding in his lungs and a bruise on his bladder. Preston also had injuries to his mouth, throat, and bottom with parts of his anatomy deemed abnormal in the injuries consistent with forcible penetration and SA.

His cause of death was determined to be from acute upper airway obstruction by an object or objects inserted into his mouth. The same day, Jaime and John were arrested on suspicion of neglect. It was clear that Jaime’s version of events did not match what Preston’s autopsy had found. However, after being interviewed by detectives and having their phones confiscated for evidence, both men were released from custody the same day with no charges.

A while ago, you we were talking about the health visitor.  Yeah.  Um and the report that she put in, you were saying to us that that’s actually um a continuation of attending the hospital.  Yeah. Confident it is.  Yeah. Um, and you were saying that Elijah would crawl around. He’d bump into things.  Yeah.

At that point, he wasn’t crawling crawling. He just lean over and roll and fall. And we’ve got some toys like little suctioning cups that sit onto the window to help him with his skills and he can spin them and he headbutts the windows. He’s just a clumsy baby. They’re just normal clumsy bruises. They’re just always little ones on his head.

Nothing nothing severe. Just little little light bruises.  No,  there’s no suggestion to say this in fairness to yourself, but because they’ve been mentioned by the healthy beest not to  Yeah. Yeah. And we reported this to is to adoption now to social workers as well.  Okay. So, what I’d like to do then is go back to yesterday morning and you’re dressing uh baby Elijah to go to your mom’s. Okay.

Thinking about just Elijah’s head at this point. Yeah.  What injuries, marks, any blemishes at all that you can see?  Absolutely nothing.  Okay. So, moving down his body then.  Yeah.  And we’re now looking at his torso.  Yeah.  Um front and back.  Yeah.  What what injuries? What blemishes?  Nothing.

Nothing.  Nothing. No.  Okay. Right. He had about two weeks ago or something like that. We went to the park and he had a little bit of a bruise from where the swing were, but I padded it with um blankets at the front and the back. It’s too small.  Um  but yesterday  But yesterday,  was that bruise still visible?  No, I don’t think it was now. Okay.

No, it wasn’t. It was.  Thinking about his right arm then?  Yeah.  Any marks blemishes at all arm?  No.  And bruises?  No.  Left arm? No.  Okay. So, we’re going to move down now to his hips.  Um, any marks, bruises, or anything abnormalities to  No. Nothing?  No.  To his hips?  No.  To his buttocks?  No.

To his backside?  No.  Okay. Right leg?  No. Oh, he had some Did he I think he might have had a bruise or something on his sort of shin. He might have had one there  on his front of his right shin. I don’t know whe it’s right or left but I’m touching my right but yeah  on one of his shins.  Yeah.

Um feet.  No.  Okay. Think. So all in all the way you described Elijah when you when you dressed him yesterday morning  was the only bruise he had was to his right. Oh sorry to one of his shins.  Was one of his shins.  Yes.  Um anything else at all?  No.  Only have two more that we just didn’t cover.

Um the bath when you’ve taken him out of the bath,  have you removed any of the water following that?  No.  Right. Okay. But you did mention that the seal’s not great, isn’t it? Because when we’ve got around to the address, but  there’s been no water in the back.  Right. So the seal’s not, but I’ve glued the seal onto it.

So it should should be fixed. That was the first time I glued it. That was one of the things actually, funny enough, that I did that day is glue the seal.  And how is the Just describe the plug for me. Some of them they’re obviously the ones that you put in or is it  it’s one that you just push down but you can screw it off and this the rubber band’s gone.

So  if you lift the kick the plug if you kick the plug and the water went out it knocked the seal off. So I’ll put some I’ll put some glue on it actually.  Once it is actually pressed down that seal works as far as you’re aware.  Well I don’t know cuz that was his first bath since it was glued.  Right.

So the you’ve not released  not released any water.  So if it’s not in there it’s because there’s a problem with the  not released any water. Okay. Did  you see John released it at all while he  wouldn’t have had time? He came straight up and we went straight out of the house and I got him straight out of the bathroom and went straight to the bedroom with him.

It wouldn’t be until nearly 2 years later in June of 2025 after an extensive investigation that John and Jamie were arrested again and this time charged. Jaime Barley was charged with murder, two counts of assault by penetration, five counts of cruelty to a child, grievous bodily harm, essay of a child, 13 counts of taking indecent photos of a child, one count of distributing an indecent photo of a child to his partner, and one count of making an indecent photo.

John McGawan Fazakurly was charged with causing or allowing the death of a child, two counts of child cruelty, and one count of essay of a child. Detectives discovered that Preston had been brought to the hospital three times prior to his death, and each visit was accompanied by a serious concern. Yet, the couple was never further investigated.

On the morning of May 25th, 2023, Preston was rushed to the hospital. He was unresponsive and floppy. Jaime reported that the infant was having a nose bleed and a difficult time breathing. Soon after they arrived at the hospital, Preston also began having a seizure. Ultimately, the doctors who examined the little boy attributed his symptoms to a chest infection.

But tests that were done after Preston’s death found that it was more likely he had suffered from non-ACal suffocation. At the time of the hospital visit, nurses noticed that there were two unusual bruises on Preston’s head, and they wrote in the medical report that he had injuries inconsistent with the version of events that were given.

While social services and police were contacted, it was ultimately determined that Preston had just obtained these injuries while he was learning to walk, so there was nothing suspicious about them. A little over a month later on June 30th, John and Jaime took Preston back to the hospital again. This time reporting that he had a rash, was vomiting, had high fever, and had been having diarrhea for days.

And once again, doctors saw some unusual bruising on Preston’s head. However, after Jaime showed them a video of the infant pulling a toy box on top of himself while playing, they accepted that this was the reason for his injuries.  Oopsie. It’s okay.  But like, look at this video. He did not hit himself very hard at all.

It would not have caused big bruises. Jaime commented to medical staff, quote, “You lot are going to think we have been using him or something.” Haha, so funny. It was later discovered that this toy box video was filmed 12 days prior. On July 6th, Preston was rushed back to the hospital again, this time with an injury to his arm.

Jaime claimed it happened the evening before when he was putting the little boy in his crib. He said that he was lowering Preston onto the mattress when he either jumped or kicked his feet and he heard a pop or click of his arm. Once an X-ray was done, it was discovered that Preston had a fractured left elbow and he was placed into a cast.

The social worker who had been assigned to Preston’s case, Amy Shepardson, spoke with the hospital, then texted Jaime saying, “Just to reassure you, they said they had absolutely no concerns. you absolutely did the right thing. Amy went out to the home later that day and noted that Preston was looking pale and not quite himself.

She added that he tried to smile several times, but then this changed to a very sad face in a little cry. A day later, the family had a home visit from Helen McGee, an independent reviewer from Oldm Social Services. In her report of the visit, which was apparently addressed to the baby, she said, “You were happy there with both your daddies, and this made me ponder a little as to whether there was a problem I couldn’t see.

I decided there wasn’t an issue.” The following week, an orthopedic surgeon treated Preston at the fracture clinic, and Jaime brought him in. The doctor’s notes for this visit stated that he was told the injury occurred when Jaime placed the little boy into his car seat and it had nothing to do with a crib like the father had previously told medical staff.

That same week, Jaime spoke with a colleague named Janet Gee, who was also a teacher and therefore a mandated reporter. He told her that he was struggling mentally and having dark thoughts. These dark thoughts were apparently about drowning or suffocating Preston, but Janet didn’t report these statements to anyone in a position of authority.

Investigators also discovered that Jaime had taken a number of photos and videos of the cruel behavior that he subjected Preston to. In one video from July 19th, 2023, he aggressively spins Preston on a teacup at the playground until his eyes roll back. This clip was shared with Jaime and John’s mothers with the song You Spin Me Round played over it.

There were many photos found on Jaime’s phone of Preston while he was naked, both awake and asleep. Jaime also recorded the little boy playing with his genitals. On April 23rd, he had taken a video of him in a bathtub with Preston. The bath lasted for over an hour who bathes with an infant for that long.

Something else had to have been going on during that time. Another video shows Preston having an apparent seizure. This one was shared to a Snapchat group. In a clip that Jaime took of Preston on June 15th, the little boy is seen falling asleep, but then he’s cruy jump scared awake. You can clearly tell that he’s sleepd deprived, too.

Shortly after taking this video, Jaime sent it to John, who was away on a work trip. It seems like Jaime was annoyed with having to care for Preston on his own that day. Earlier, John sent him a text message saying that his flight had been delayed, to which Jaime replied, “That’s your effing fault. Now f off.

In a later text message exchange, Jaime told John, “I’m effing sick of you. Go away.” Then there was a video that Jaime had taken of Preston alone in a bathtub. It showed him floundering about unsupervised for 14 minutes. This footage was deleted later the same day. Jaime would try to claim that he was teaching Preston to self soothe.

Back on April 10th, Jamon sent his mother, Karen Graham, a video of Preston in his walker. To which she replied, “Clever boy, xxx.” Jaime texted her back and said, “This was before he was murdered and put to bed.” A text message sent on July 10th from Jaime to John read, “Your son’s in hospital. I strangled him. Jokes. Just give me a call when done.

” Then on July 23rd, Jaime took a series of photos of Preston over a period of about 3 minutes. They showed the infant asleep or unconscious with his head and arms over the horizontal bars of his crib and his neck was resting on it. His body was partially suspended and his legs were in a froglike position.

His tongue was protruding, his lips were blue, and in one photo, he had a liquid coming out of his mouth. Authorities believe these pictures had been taken directly after the infant was essayed, like they were some sort of trophy of the men’s sick deeds. But according to John, Preston fell asleep in unnatural sleep positions like that all the time.

Investigators have said that there were other photos found on Jaime’s phone of Preston being essayed, too. On the morning of July 27th, before Jon went into work, he and Jaime went to look at a new house. During this time, Jaime’s mother watched Preston, and he was seen in a photo taken at 2:25 looking happy and healthy.

That evening, John returned home at 6:15 p.m. When he did, Jaime came to the door in a panic, saying that he needed his help. Shortly after, instead of calling an ambulance, the pair rushed Preston to the hospital. A few hours prior to this, at 4:45 p.m., it was discovered that Jaime had taken a 35 second video clip of Preston, who is in extreme respiratory distress.

It’s believed that this was taken after another assault. But instead of getting help for the little boy, Jaime went online and started looking at kayaks for sale. Then he waited until an hour and a half later when John got home to take his son to the hospital. During their investigation, police would find that Jaime had a secret cash of porn located in a hidden file on his phone.

While there were no images of children found there, there were images of beastiality. The Lancashire police detective chief inspector said of the case, “It was almost like a sorted amusement that Jaime Varley treated Preston as a play thing, as his property, and that poor child has been subjected to a reign of terror.

” While at first it might seem like John was pretty innocent in all of Preston’s abuse and subsequent death, keep in mind he had over 40 different internal and external injuries on his body. He was only 13 months old. His anatomy was said to be abnormal from forceful penetration. John had to have noticed. Which also makes you wonder how Jaime’s mother, who babysat Preston on July 27th, didn’t notice all these horrific injuries.

She even said that she bathed him. But she was never charged and as far as I know, never questioned either. Now, of course, John would come up with excuses for not seeing Preston’s many injuries. He said that he was at work so often that Jaime was the little boy’s primary caregiver and that for every one diaper of Preston’s he changed, Jaime changed five.

I’m going to come on to neglect and ill treatment. John, this is all about protecting Preston from harm. You’ve been shown a series of injury photographs right from the time Preston came into your care and up to his death. Uh and medical professionals on some of these injuries has said that these are nonacal.

How do you explain that?  I have again said your interview I have never ever hurt my son.  The senior investigator on the case didn’t believe John’s  However, he said that even though he had been working on the day that Preston died, the father had taken a hear no evil, see no evil approach to what was going on inside the home.

Photos that showed Preston with human bite marks on his buttocks were also found inside John’s phone. And don’t forget, he’d been the recipient of the video Jaime took jump scaring little Preston awake. Then there was the call that John placed the 999 on the evening of May 15th, but it was apparently abandoned after only 4 seconds, and the operator reported hearing someone hissing.

Put it down on the other end. Once the call was returned, the operator was told that it was actually intended for NHS 111 service to report that Preston was having problems breathing. When a call back from a medic was then arranged, it went unanswered. The next day, a health visitor made a scheduled call to the house, during which time Preston was reported as looking happy, and his breathing problems were never mentioned.

The couple’s neighbors said that they frequently heard little Preston crying. They would also overhear Jaime loudly berating his partner, and sometimes Jon would go knock on their doors to apologize. The photos of Preston sleeping unnaturally in his crib with his head propped up and his feet dangling were also taken at a time when Jon was home.

It’s believed that Jon had either participated in or encouraged the sexual acts that had occurred just prior to these pictures being taken. An officer leading the case said their investigation didn’t reveal any evidence to suggest the men had a sexual interest in children prior to the adoption. In April of 2026, both Jaime and Jon will go to trial, and it would last an entire eight weeks.

During this time, both men denied all the allegations against them. According to the prosecution, Preston was a perfectly happy and healthy baby boy when he was placed in John and Jaime’s care. But Jaime, who was an arrogant, self-centered liar, had a sexual interest in the infant. and it became evident within weeks of him being brought into the home.

During the trial, the jury was shown the disturbing photos and videos of Preston’s abuse that were discovered on Jaime’s phone, some of which they were told could not be unseen. Apparently, a few pieces of this evidence proved to be too much for a few jurors, and it caused the entire jury to be released and a new one to be brought in just a few days into the trial.

When John took the stand, he claimed that he had stood by Jaime’s side following Preston’s death because he believed it was just an accident. He said he had no reason not to believe that he hadn’t died from drowning. John also insisted he had no reason to believe that Jaime would hurt the little boy.

It was only when the pair was rearrested in 2025 that he started to put the pieces together. Sure. John was questioned about the images that were taken of Preston sleeping in an unsafe sleep position just days before his death. He claimed that he had been downstairs cooking lunch when Jaime called him upstairs to take a look at the way that Preston was sleeping.

John stated he told Jaime to lay him down, then left the room. He’d done nothing to make sure that happened, though. On the day that Preston died, John said that he arrived home to find Jaime performing CPR on the infant. But before he even entered the room, he knew there was something wrong because it stunk and there were sick and soiled towels everywhere.

John insisted that he had never been told by Jaime that the little boy had just suffered a seizure hours prior. He also claimed that he had never essayed Preston and he had no reason to believe that Jaime did either. John said of the prosecution’s claims, “It’s sick. It’s vile. It’s disgusting. It’s abhorrent. It’s inhuman.” When it was Jaime’s turn to take the witness stand, he denied ever hurting Preston.

He said, “That little boy, our little boy, had a brilliant life with us.” He claimed that he’d only taken so many photos and videos of Preston because he wanted to have them to show him when he got older. The defense’s story was that Jaime put Preston in a bathtub with about 2 to 2 and 1/2 in of water. He was also sitting in his tub seat.

Then Jaime took a shower and went to get his clothes from the other room. I’m assuming it’s the kind of bathroom that has a tub on one side and a shower on the other. Jaime claimed that while he was showering, he was able to keep an eye on his son. But when he left the room to grab a towel and clothes for both of them, the infant fell out of his seat and down into the water.

While he didn’t know how long he had been gone from the room, he said it couldn’t have been any more than about a minute. Of course, as we already know, this story is completely improbable because there was no water even found in Preston’s lungs. Either way, Jaime claimed that he scooped Preston up after finding him face down in the water, and he began to gasp.

So, he rubbed the infant’s belly to get the water out, and this caused him to vomit. This part of the story gives him an excuse for why there was vomit found on multiple towels in the room, and for why Preston had bruises on his bladder. A pathologist who testified said that the evidence showed something completely different.

He stated that Preston’s airways had been obstructed by an object being placed in his mouth. This also caused the bruising that was found at the back of his throat. The defense tried to argue that the bruises might have come from EMS’s attempts to resuscitate him. But then the forensic pathologist that they hired was asked if the injuries could have been the result of the little boy being forcefully held by the shoulder, neck, and head.

then having a hard smooth object forced into the back of his throat and he agreed they could have been. At the end of the 8-week trial, the jury spent about 14 hours deliberating before they came back with their verdict. On June 15th, 2026, both Jaime Varley and John McGawan Farz Fazakurley were found guilty on all their charges.

After the verdicts were read, Jaime dropped to his knees and began vomiting. A few days later, he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, and his partner John received 25 years. Following Jaime and John’s sentencing, the senior investigator on the case spoke outside the courthouse.  Jamie Vley is an evil and monstrous individual who sexually, physically, and mentally a vulnerable baby for his own sadistic pleasure.

It was this that ultimately led to little baby Preston’s death. Struggle to imagine the horror that Preston endured in his short life. McGawan physically did nothing to help Preston and instead committed his own sexual assault against him. While no sentence will ever be enough for what these truly wicked men did to an innocent child, I welcome those handed down to them today by the judge.

I hope it gives some comfort to those who love Preston that both and McGawan Faci will be behind bars for a significant period of time. This has been one of the most challenging investigations our force major investigation team has ever undertaken and the most extreme example of sorted and wicked behavior by two completely remorseless human beings.

This is a case that truly shocked the nation. I would like to thank the investigation team for their professionalism and determination in getting justice for Preston. I would also like to thank the Crown Prosecution Service and our council Peter Ray Casey and Simon Driver. I know today’s headlines will understandably be about Vi and McGowan Faci and their truly aborant crimes.

However, I don’t want the victim in this case, baby Preston Davyy, to be lost in the headlines. He was a happy and thriving boy who would have been celebrating his fourth birthday two two days ago if it wasn’t for the actions of Viaki. I’d like to say a few words on behalf of Sarah Davyy. Preston Paul Arlo Davyy was perfect from the moment he was born.

The second he was placed in my arms, I felt completely in love with him. He was my baby, my son, and from that day on, I never wanted to let him go. For the first seven months of his life, I was lucky enough to spend precious time with him. He had the most beautiful smile, one that could light up any room, and the bond we shared was something everybody could see.

Those memories should have brought me comfort, but instead they are now mixed with pain because I know what they put him through in his final months. He was defenseless. He relied entirely on them, the adults responsible for him, to love him, care for him, and keep him safe. Instead, they caused him suffering.

They took away his chance to grow up, to go to school, to make friends, to live a full life. They took everything from him. There are no words that can truly describe the moment Sarah was told her son had died. Her world ended. Part of her died with him. But what makes it even more unbearable is knowing that his death was not an accident.

It was something cruel, something that he did not deserve, and something that should never have been allowed to happen. And I’ll read a few words on behalf of Sandra Cooper. Preston’s death has had a huge impact upon our lives. Preston was going to be the last child we we fostered. However, we could not retire after Preston had died.

We felt we had a duty to other children and could not sit back and enjoy ourselves knowing that other children were being used, mistreated, and could die. My husband Paul and I continued to foster children to protect them. We are doing this for Preston in his memory. Preston’s death has changed my perspective on life. Things I once felt were important I now feel are not.

I realize that life is too short. Paul and I will often watch videos we took of Preston when he was happy with us laughing and giggling, playing with his toys and smiling. Preston’s face would light up when we looked at him. He was joyful, so content and happy with sparkly smiling eyes. This is how we want to remember him.

Thank you very much. We’re not taking any questions. Preston’s biological grandmother, Deborah Davyy, said that authorities failed to spot the her grandson was being subjected to. She also questions whether social services were too afraid to be called homophobic to do anything to intervene.

Debbie then said, “The social worker in Preston’s case is still working, and I’m fuming about that. She was supposed to be checking on Preston. I think it’s terrible. She is still working and my baby is dead. On what would have been Preston’s 4th birthday, June 16th, 2026, a candlelight vigil was held for him at the Preston Flag Market.

Those in attendance listened to a bagpipe player lit candles and blew bubbles in memory of the little boy. Following his death, Preston’s remains were cremated and given to his biological mother. Thank you for listening to Preston’s story today. What a couple of sick  these men are.

I can’t believe that there were no red flags prior to them applying for adoption of Preston, but then they caused such catastrophic damage to his little body. It’s such a sad case and makes me so aggravated about all the things that could have been done. What do you think?
